General Rules
Simi Valley Farmers’ Market REGULATIONS

 1. NO vehicles under any circumstances shall drive or park over the black electrical lines, or in and over any of the landscaping and if seen a $20 repair fee will be required at the time of each occurrence.

2. No automobiles will be allowed in the Market area walkways after 11:00 am and before 3:30 pm.. At no time shall any vehicle or equipment stop at, park or block handicap: parking locations, thoroughfares, accesses or ramps.

3. All canopies shall remain up until 3:00pm if a canopy is utilized.

4. Also watch out for, do not hit or get close to the yellow electrical boxes.

5. YOU MUST CLEAN UP YOUR AREA & ALL YOUR TRASH AFTER THE EVENT. THERE SHALL NOT BE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES AT ANY TIME DUMPING OF ANY TYPE OF LIQUID OR TRASH IN OR ON THE LANDSCAPING or in the storm drains.

6. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR TRASH, EMPTY BOXES, OR EMPTY CONTAINERS ON THE GROUND BY THE DUMPSTERS, BY THE TRASH CANS PROVIDED FOR THE CUSTOMERS, OR ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE MARKET (parking lot) AREA.

7. YOU MUST TAKE AND PLACE ALL YOUR TRASH INTO THE DUMPSTERS. ONE DUMPSTER IS LOCATED AT THE SOUTH END OF Verizon Wireless BUILDING (behind the building in alley).

8. No equipment, trash, products or anything shall be put in or on any of the landscaping at anytime. No participants shall step into or touch the landscaping at anytime.

9. The brown plastic and metal folding chairs are for customer use only! Any vendors using or taking the brown folding chairs shall be fined a $20 fee payable at the time of each occurrence.

10. No sales or soliciting sales shall be made before 11am and after 3:30 pm sharp!

11. No occupancy, set up, or parking in Market premises shall occur before 9:30.

12. All Market vendors’ vehicles that are not parked inside the Market, shall park their vehicles in the designated common area that is to the west of the Market and next to the Wells Fargo Bank building. Parking in the designated area is in order to prevent congestion and allows customers to come and park at the Market.

13. Crafters on the west and east sides of the Market may not have their vehicles in the Market near their location if space allows. The Health Department states that only Mobile Food Facility permitees and Farmers may have their cars near their location. Crafters have only a 10 X 10 foot space.

14. All participants’ tables shall be behind the white line at the end of the parking strip line.

15. Sales amount comparison to and the amount of similar products at the Market is one basis in determining space size and location.

16. FMOCIH can change the space size, availability, locations and products allowed to be sold with a seven-day notice.

17.  Space prices are based on product and location, not on size of space.

18. All vendors are on a week-to-week tenancy with either FMOCIH or the vendor able to terminate participation in the Market with a seven-day notice.

19. If you are not at your location by 10:50 am sharp your spot will be given away.

20. There are no rain checks, refunds, or exchange for another date.

21. With notification or without notification by vendor; if any vendor does not participate two consecutive weeks in a row then they may be terminated form the Market. A vendor non-participating in the Market two weeks in row constitutes the above seven-day termination notice.

22. If you do not notify on the load sheet, or call (805) 643-6458 and leave a message, and you do not show two times in a row, you will lose your spot and have quit the Market.

23. If you will not be at the Market for any reason it is essential for your neighbors’ sales that you call (805) 643-6458 and leave a message or mark it on your load sheet.

24.  All vendors and farmers MUST have proper State, Ventura County and City of Simi Valley permits, licenses and certificates prior to any sales and must follow all government laws and requirements.

25. All Farmers are required to bring their original embossed certificate every Friday, and have it out posted and displayed so the customers can see it.

26. There shall be no use at anytime for any reason of expandable polystyrene food containers (EPS), known by the trade name "Styrofoam".

27. All market participants that sell any type of food shall wash their hands and arms with soap after using toilet facilities and at other times to prevent contamination of food.

28. The Certified Farmers’ Market and it’s certified agricultural producers, then food, then children’s activities, then farm & garden related items shall be given priority on all market space. The non-certified and non-food products will be allowed only as adequate space permits, and in non-priority locations, which shall be determined at the absolute direction of FMOCIH.

29.  None of the following is allowed at the Market or allowed to be sold in the Market: knock-off merchandise of any kind, firearms of any kind, components for ammunition, explosives, knives, swords, daggers, and/or any type of weapons, grab bags, coin operated game machines of any kind, alcoholic beverages, drug or tobacco products/paraphernalia, water filter systems, chiropractic services, body piercing, fortune telling, handwriting analysis, animals, birds, pets or living things.

30. Electricity is on an available basis only with no assured usage for participants.

31. All clamp-on lights are loaned and a $10 security deposit will be required that will be refunded when the light is returned to the Market Manager.

32. No electrical cords shall cross any customer walkway at any time!

33. Only 3 prong extension cords shall be used. Pigtail adapters into yellow boxes are not supplied by FMOCIH. The labeled red 240 30-amp outlet on the yellow boxes shall not be used for any reason!

34. All vehicles in the Market premises shall be clean, shipshape, have no graffiti and in good working order

35. Only the solid color of white is allowed to be used on the canopies with a green table cover. No canopy at all, or umbrellas of any color is also allowed.

36. White canopies or white sheets and green table covers may be given and set up for vendors by FMOCIH if they use a non-white canopy. The following security deposits will be required and will be refunded when the equipment is returned in the same condition: $175 dollars for the security deposit for the canopies with a $45 dollar a week fee; or $40 dollars for the security deposit for the white sheets with a $15 dollar a week fee.

37. If a non-white color canopy or a non-3 prong extension cord is used, FMOCIH has the entitlement to take it down and relocate it.

38.  All crafters fees are due and payable in cash by 4 pm.

39. No conduct at the Market shall be unsafe, offensive, abusive, harassing, impolite, rude, negative, argumentative, mean, or otherwise inappropriate to a customer, market staff member, market manager, other vendors, or any official from a city, county or state agency conducting business within the Market confines and may result in immediate termination.

40. FMOCIH and its designated agents shall implement and enforce all rules and regulations in a fair and equitable manner.

41. Violations of any rules, regulations, restrictions, terms, rental agreement, any of the above regulations, FMOCIH policies, federal/state/county/city laws may result in the following disciplinary actions:

  • First offense:

An oral warning.
 

  • Second offense

A written notice of violation

  • Third offense:

A written notice of violation with a $ 50.00 fine.

  • Fourth offense:

A written notice of violation with a $ 80.00 fine or Market suspension of any length up to five months.

  • Fifth offense:

Termination from the Market.

Correction of condition and/or payment of fines are mandatory before re-admittance to the Market. The Committee will review all disciplinary actions. The Disciplinary Committee is made up from either the vendors, landlords, FMOCIH, or customers. You may appeal within 5 calendar days any disciplinary actions to the Disciplinary Committee at: FMOCIH Attn: Disciplinary Committee 209 South Santa Cruz Street Ventura, CA 93001 Certified Farmers shall have 15 calendar days to submit a written appeal to the same address to appear before the board for an administrative hearing. 40. If inclement weather occurs on Friday call (805) 643-6458 at 12 noon Friday for status of Market.
